With its 300 years of company tradition ZOLLERN belongs to the pioneers of the metal industry and has continuously determined the development since an early stage.

3.200 highly dedicated employees design, produce, sale and service a product range of innovative metal products at 15 production facilities and subsidiaries in Europe, Americas and Asia.

The ZOLLERN group with its headquarters in Laucherthal/ Germany consists of the five business units:

  • casting and forging technology (sand casting, investment casting, forging) 
  • drive technology (gears, winches, direct drive motors, automation) 
  • bearing technology (plain bearings, hydrostatic and airostatic bearings) 
  • steel profiles and
  • engineering components.

The company offers its customers special solutions within the focus branches of power generation, automotive, aviation, naval industry, construction machinery and machine building.




Body-in-white phase of the BMW i3 electric car (Megacity Vehicles, MCV) performed with ZOLLERN gantry robot in the Leipzig plant.

"Body in white" describes the automotive production phase in which the chassis and body are joined to make the complete car. In the new BMW i3 production shop, a 23-m-long and 8-m-high 4-axis gantry robot from Zollern Automation performs this "body-in-white" phase.


ZOLLERN wins the European Aluminium Award 2012

ZOLLERN has been honored with the European Aluminum Award 2012, category Consumer products – innovation.63 entries from 12 different countries were received.


ZOLLERN nominated for the European Aluminium Award 2012

ZOLLERN made the BMW lightweight-construction rear swing fork for 2011 Superbike World Championship and realized a weight reduction of 20 per cent. To manufacture the high-stress part, ZOLLERN used its patented SOPHIA® process that's ideal for the job and otherwise used by the company in aviation engineering. The rear swing fork has been nominated for this years European Aluminium Award. The winner will be honoured at October 9th, 2012 at Aluminium 2012 fair in Dusseldorf, Germany.
